Been trying to meet up with people during the leave but so far only met up with S. Hopefully can meet up with Gab, K and P tom.
OKIE....it's time for minimana's daily movie review..hurhur..Today is chicklit and kiddie day!

Devil wears prada. B+
The tale of a naive country girl in big city of New york trying to carve her niche in the whole of journalism but instead ends up in as a ...fashion magazine editor's assistant?I particularly liked the scene where Andy gets to change into many fabulous looking suits/dresses while walking through New York traffic. Wish i could visit New York one day...deardear lets go New York! hurhur. Anyway i thought Meryl Streep was wonderously devilish in her role as the icy editor. The sacarsm, the piercing stares and aloof mannerisms are all engraved on her face. Excellent performance! This movie for all the girls out there! Go watch it. Alas, there were obviously too many product placements in the movie.. but what great outfits!

- Fav quote : "You sold your soul to the devil when you put on your first pair of Jimmy Choo's!"

Cars. B+
I thought Cars was just another weaving of the same old familiar tale of friendship and family except with machines. Was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong. It's also the first time i believe that cars are personified with eyes on the windscreen. Usually the eyes are the headlights right? Very interesting i must say...except that was just wondering where their wipers were. Hurhurhur. Everything was so well done, the details...it brought viewers into a world populated by cute little itsy bitsy cars. I still don't get Nascar racing though, i mean whats so great about cars zipping round a circular track for like.....what?? 300 laps?? Duh. I rather watch the paint peel.

- Fav quote: "Jesus-Chrysler!" --> hurhur was laughing really hard at this... -.- hurhur

Over the hedge. B+
Another as above. Story of friendship, family, morals, life choices...etcetc. Nice animations, the little critters looked really cute. Only thing i think they should have done in another way was to ...make the bear cuter! Bears are cute. Period.
I love lazing around at home!!!Counting down the days to going back to work...on call on the first day of work to boot. Sighh....

Every leave, it has become almost a culture for me to go on a movie frenzy, renting movie after movie.

V for vendetta. A+
I truely enjoyed this adapation of V for Vendetta. Set upon the background of a totalitarian government in England (much like our own...hurhur), V is a freedom fighter who encourages the citizens to rise against the oppression in his own creative way. The script is nicely done with several unforgettable quotes.
"Beneath this mask is an idea. An ideas are bulletproof.."
"The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous."
The scene where V blows up the parliment house and the orchestra playing behind was really breathtaking.

Dodgeball. C+
Dear wanted some chick flick but i couldn't find any ones which she hasn't already watched! Says alot about the number of chick flicks she catches a year. -.- Got dodgeball simply because it was labelled "popular". T'was a good no brainer movie with no plot. I guess it doesn't pretend to be anything else other than slapstick stupidity. Wonder if Ben stiller really worked out for the movie. I honestly don't remember him being that beefed up. Anyone has any idea?

Silent Hill. A
Makes you want to play the game all over again and relive the nightmares the first round of button-bashing induced. This was an excellent game-to-movie adaption! Positively freaky! Rose was also so lust-worthy.. everyone loves a hotchick who can run through a ghosttown handcuffed and wandering through a school armed with nothing but a flashlight. hurhur...

Gonna rent somemore!! Lotsa animations to watch...
The wild
Cars
Over the hedge
Monsters house
Ant bully
Happy feet...

Started my second part of leave. 4 more days of leave away from the stinking hellhole. Sigh, at least we had a decent list when i left.

Met up with the gang last night for a late night movie. Y was constantly commenting why we weren't at zoukout. Yeah, our lives have become consumed by work, no time to stop, look back or savour the moment and party.

Flags of our fathers didn't really live up to the hype and expectations in my opinion, considering industry insiders were deeming it an oscar shoo-in before it even hit the silver screens. Perhaps it was just the Clint-Eastwood factor and people expected or demanded quality. Still, it most likely will make it to the awards, just that i felt it wasn't as entertaining or tear-jerking as i expected it to have been. Y & Dear was battling throughout the show not to doze off. K and me were probably kept awake by the punctuating scenes of flashbacks in Iwo Jima. I guess only JM truely enjoyed and appreciated the show.

The moral of the story?
To now ask for free popcorn at every midnight or last screening of the day! I didn't know we could get that! Apparently they dispose of all the day's unsold popcorn according to Y and technically could dish it out free. All you need is to show some flesh or muscle depending on the attendant's sexual orientation!

Meh Meh the silly dog.
